The Way The Hip Hop Culture Has Influenced Us

Although most people know about rap, few actually know how this culture is promoting to influence our society. Today you most likely saw someone having a hip hop watch, or orange shutter shades, both of which are part of the hip hop culture. If not these then at least another item such as hip hop T-shirt, or jewelry.
So, the next time you see that hip hop watch, you’ll be armed with some of the interesting facts you’ll read here. Although most of us think rap is a 1990s culture, it really is not. Your orange shatter shades may be newer however the culture could be traced back to the seventies. You may know, hip hop has its own roots in music and art and continues to influence other areas in our lives today.
If the name Clive Campbell does not ring a bell, then perhaps DJ KoolHerc might. Well before people started thinking of wearing that hip hop watch, a young but talented Campbell moved to Bronx, in New York from Jamaica. He brought with him Jamaican style of musical entertainment which he built upon and was later adopted by other DJs to what we now call hip hop.
Hip hop is originally an African-American culture although the wearing of orange shutter shades along with other hip hop regalia has permeated all societies. From America to Africa, Asia to Australia; Europe and also to a small extend Middle East, people have taken it up. It is no longer strange to see hip hop chains, T-shirts or the hip hop watch anywhere on the globe.
The American Department of State acknowledges the universal nature of rap and says it has broken all racial barriers and is influencing both music and fashion globally. One of the best things about rap is when easily it blends with other cultures which is the reason on each continent it takes a distinct shape.
With the good aspects – hip hop watches, jewelry, shirts, orange shutter shades and bling bling, rap has unfortunately also had a bad side. One of the main concerns is that while those who generated the culture remain excluded, others have commercialized rap and reaped millions out of it. Hip hop can also be associated with drugs, violence and crime especially in America.
Just about everyone has encountered that vulgar song with erotic dancing glorifying all of the negative and immoral facets of society. Perhaps the time is right all of us pushed for the original, old skool, rap which was started in the 70s.
