Music history, Origins, culture, types of music?

Hey,

I have to make this presentation and i choose the theme Music. It turned out to be harder then i though, although i really want to stick to the theme.
I need to include as much info as possible in this PP Presentation its 4minutes long.

I would like some help finding stuff like, which culture started music first, what equipment and how did they make music when its started, big dates, like music revolutions when it completly was changes, basicly a timeline from where it really started up to today.. Who started, blues, rock, r&b, drum and bass, hip hop, rap… This is quite a lot but any help would be apprichiated.. I would like to know this myself as well as i need it for this presentation, so id be really thankful for your time and help :)

Quite a wide spectrum you might try to limit it to the modern era -most early music was either folk in origin or ecclesiastical and is common to virtually all culture although metrical systems vary according to nationality – the sort of thing that ditinguished Indian music from western traditions for example. Much of this has been lost although some early ecclesiastical music survives (Gregorian Chants) or the music of St Hildegard (Abbess Hildegard von Bingen). If you start with medieval music and airs (famously Greensleeves supposedly composed by Henry VIII) moving on to classical composers such as Mozart again it will be the church or court that will be found to sponsor ‘official’ music and to dicatate what it should be like – this is is also the time by which we have conventional music notation so we can actually tell what it was like. By contrast people like Cecil Sharp began collecting folk tunes from local communities – actually transcribing tunes into sheet music for posterity. With advent of recording and publishing tunes began to have broad appeal, especially with the advent of broadcasting and film when it becam a major industry. key people to work in are Geroge and Ira Gershwin (musicals like Porgy and Bess and the work Rhapsody in Blue) Elvis (white but sang like a black), Bill Haley and the Beatles, with a byeway of modern folk musicians eg Bob Dylan, Joan Baez etc ).You can then go from sprirituals to gospel and then secular soul/blues and jazz to rock and roll, skiffle and then commerical pop/punk from which it has been downhill ever since.

By thirteen, he’d been picked up by the government army, and Beah, at heart a gentle boy, found that he was capable of truly terrible acts. At sixteen, he was removed from fighting by UNICEF, and through the help of the staff at his rehabilitation center, he learned how…
