The Necessity of Studying Music
Some people have this thinking that studying music is just for people who wish to make a living out of it. What would an accounting major got to do with a few units in Music theory if not mandatory in finishing his course? What use would a plain housewife have for training for voice lessons? Singing may hardly have anything to do with doing the house work or being responsible for the needs of one’s family. What advantage would knowing music have?
First, if you study music, it can lead to a deeper appreciation for music itself. It may come as an amazement to skeptics that the appreciation of music not only increases mental health but also has many benefits on one’s physical health. According to studies, music appreciation can lower the danger of high blood pressure and stroke. Stress, which is the source of almost all health problems is reduced through it. Music appreciation sustains power mentally and physically, it helps you sleep better and most importantly reduce muscle stress. Music appreciation not just improves a person’s sleeping habits and relieve muscle stress, it can energize people mentally and physically. A vital factor to keep yourself healthy, as some people have realized, is having music in your life. Steve Krenz from Learn and Master Guitar DVD’s is proof.
Next, to have studied music helps improve other types of intelligence as well. It has been shown by studies that those who take up a few units of music tend to study longer than those who take up units that are purely related to their field of study. A link between music and spatial intelligence which is the ability to form mental pictures has been
shown as well. Learning music has proved to be an effective means to help students organize their ideas more coherently. The language and reasoning part of the brain is said to be developed by learning music.
The study of music can really broaden oneshorizons. Studying music only
signifies that you will understand and be glad about other cultures through the incredibly diverse language of music.
The fourth reason is that studying music will help develop perseverance and passion for excellence. When dealing with music, there is seldom a gray area among notes; it is either you’re in tune or not. The study of music would require the passion to learn as well as attention to details such as what style works for you and what does not work.
Thus, studying music may also be an avenue for self-discovery.
Last but not the least, music is a great avenue for self-expression. Through learning positive self-expression, it can build
one’s self-esteem. Through self-expression, those who were once painfully shy can become very confident if they’re good at it. Housewives can do something productive aside from only
doing house work and taking kids to school. Music has been a good way to express yourself even as you enjoy and take advantage from the process at the same time.
The course of music is nevercould not be too late or early. Whether you want to learn how to play an instrument so you can make an impression to your friends by playing your favorite song, or whether you want to make your profession, it’s a good thing to start studying music. Give it a shot, move and find the music you want to learn.

9 1/2 Weeks (Uncut, Uncensored Version) $14.70 Frequently given short shrift as a blue movie (which it is) and as mindless (which it isn’t), director Adrian Lyne’s follow-up to Flashdance (insert own joke here) is a thoughtful, smutty film about a bad sexual relationship. It follows the two-month affair between Elizabeth, an art-gallery dealer, and John, a Wall Street exec. The relationship spirals downward into raunchier sex (filmed, by the w… |
