Vinyl Records-Not Worth Missing
To some collectors anything classic can only be described as something that is antique. Just being an LP could be enough for any record to be categorized as classic vinyl because this method of prerecorded music is no longer in current production. Thanks to advances in technology, all of our songs are digitally made. However, before there was a CD or MP3 there was vinyl. It was Frank Sinatra who blazed a trail of top selling albums long before today’s pop idols. Being a genuine music collector means you’ve found some Frank Sinatra vinyl.
It’s hard to imagine what kind of impact a singer can have before the age of MTV or YouTube.
It didn’t take much for Sinatra to generate excitement. His female fans were called “bobby-soxers” and they followed him all across the country. Sinatra made his mark appearing on many popular radio programs in the 40’s.
Towards the end of the decade, some of the luster on Frank’s career began to diminish, but he came back with power thanks to a star turn in the movies that had nothing to do with singing. The picture was From Here to Eternity and Frank played a pivotal character. His role earned him an Academy Award and relaunched his performing career all over again.
In the start of the 50’s, Frank began his collaboration with Capitol Records which fashioned a wonderful volume of classic vinyl. Legendary music arrangers Nelson Riddle, Gordon Jenkins and Billy May all lent Frank a hand to make these records.
Swing Easy (1954), In the Wee Small Hours (1955), Songs For Swingin’ Lovers (1956) and Come Fly With Me (1957) were all facets of this vintage Frank Sinatra vinyl collection. All of these albums were chart-topping successes for Sinatra.
Subsequent to the achievements of his tenure at Capitol Records, Frank decided to begin Reprise Records as his own company. His first recording, Ring-A-Ding-Ding (1961), was an instant classic. Around this time, Frank became the leader of the Rat Pack. Along with Frank there was Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford. The gang played to sold out houses in Vegas, Chicago and New York. These live shows were recorded for all to enjoy. Pretty much anything with the Rat Pack is considered a very cool collectible.
It’s not often where you’ll see a single performer who can be a success in movies, music, TV and concerts.
Anyone who takes pleasure in classic pop music knows Frank Sinatra is such a star.
