Why don’t more African Americans like House Music?
I have been enjoying house music, parties and clubs for 15 years. While there are notable African American House DJs there doesn’t seem to be that much acceptance or enjoyment going on in the black community. Most of the fans, club goers and party attendees seem to be Caucasian/Euro, Latin or Asian.
This seems strange to me as House Music is rooted in Disco, Funk and Soul. An AA DJ once told me that cultural homophobia keeps most AA males from enjoying or participating in the House Music community but that seemed to be a subjective comment. Can anyone clue me?

Where are you from?? A lot of Black people like house music…Not all Black people who like house music are gay either. Check out this party http://virgolounge.com/html/ron_pullman these are all Black people who love house. This is in Atlanta GA. There is a big difference in the house Ron Pullman’s house music and the stuff they would play at White club. The House music in Arizona is horrible and you mainly see White, Asian and Latin like you mentioned. The MUSIC that Dj Ron Pullman plays make you want to dance. The stuff they play here just gives you a headache. House music is rare, and you can’t go to every city and go to clubs that play the soul-house music. You can’t hear it on the radio either. I like go-go music also, but I live in Arizona so unfortunately I can’t go to clubs or concerts because there isn’t enough Black people here. You geographical area plays a big difference in what people listen to. Here in AZ, a lot of people like the Latin Hip-hop rappers and I think think there all horrible. The Latin rappers here would get zero play on the radio back east and I’m not being racist, that’s just a fact. So answer this question, where do you live? I ask because that will have a major factor in who you will see at the these clubs you go to.
