HIP HOP WORLD AWARDS (HHWA) 2009 NOMINEES
Since the hip hop world Awards started three years ago, it has continued to improve in style and grandeur, and today it is currently regarded as one of the most credible Music Awards in Nigeria.
With the theme for this year’s award titled “A price to die for”, the Chief executive of the HHWA, Ayo Animashaun and his crew would be set again to set the pace for music awards in Nigeria. The event for the first time since its inception would hold outside Lagos. This time it would be held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on May 16, 2009.
Nominations for this year’s award is already out with the “Gongo-Aso” master Nice topping the nominations list with six nominations .he ‘s been nominated for album of the year award, Artiste of the year, and other four awards.
Next on the nomination list is Dbanj, with four nominations. He will have to contend with Nice on the Album of the year award.
Rave of the moment Rap Star MI also bagged four nominations with his debut album “Talk about it”. He would have contend with other big Stars like Nice and Dbanj in the Album of the year category.
Lord of Ajasa also got two nominations for best rap album and best collabo .If you’re thinking like I’m thinking, MI would be a great challenge for Lord of Ajasa’s dream of clinching this award.
Naeto C and Tu face Idibia both got three nominations each from their albums “Kini Big deal” and “Unstoppable” respectively. The 0809 Naija Boy Banky W also got three nominations among which includes Best RnB Pop album. A strong category I must say considering other nominees in this category. They are 9ice, Tuface, Etcetra, and Dbanj .
Naija Ninja Sound Sultan also got two nominations from his SSSquad album as well as Dare Art Alade from his smashing single “Not the girl I used to know”.
Other artistes that made the nomination list include Psquare, J Martins, don jazzy,Jude Okoye, waje, Dj Tee, Ego, Timaya, Buffalo, Zeez, Dee-Bee among others.
The other category of award is the Hip Hop World hall of Fame. They are Obi Asika, Grand Master Lee, Philip Trimnell, Eddy lawani, Kenny & D1 and Ben Murray Bruce.
The May 16 2009 event would be hosted by Presenter Kemi Adetiba and Singer Banky W who coincidentally has multiple nominations so it’s surprising he’s been chosen to host the awards as well.
Like I would always say these days anything can happen !
