Dance/Electronic fans! Here is a question for ya.?
Do you think the Dance Electronic realm is dying out? Its just a small niche of the music market. All cities that have tried to have a dance music station, including Los Angeles have all failed. I still prefer to go to a club with DJ spinning some dance/electronica/house compared to hearing Yung Joc or Ying Yang Twins.
I think there is a strong dance music following in Europe and I find lots of great music from there. I would like to see more of it get some time here. I have found alot of the the 80′s pop remixed into dance. Soft Cell, Trans X, Berlin. Groups like the Global Deejays’, ViynylShakers, Filterfunk and of course the Djs. Oakenfold, Tiesto, Frankie Knuckles, Louie Devito, Jerry Bonham…. I could go on and on.
Dance/Electronic music is certainly bigger overseas, but fans like us can help it grow here in the US. Sure, traditional radio might not have a dance music offering, but try XM or Sirius, & don’t forget internet options. Check out the Essential Mix on bbc.co.uk/radio1. Also, you might have to do a bit of traveling, but there are all kinds of parties in the US that celebrate this genre. There’s still time to get your ticket to Miami for the 2007 Winter Music Conference in March (wintermusicconference.com) and you must go to the Ultra Music Festival while you’re there! Check out Together As One in LA, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, and in cities across the US, DJs are playing live sets every weekend! Check out nightreveler.com for a listing of a few cities & the great DJs that are spinning. If you have the opportunity to travel overseas, go to IBIZA! ~Happy Listening!~
