Audio-Visual Advances In The Home: The Rise In Home Cinema Systems
Whereas in the 1970s and 80s, folks listened to music via a car radio, a record player or radio at home and only saw TV at up to midnight the variety and methods of entertaining yourself are now beyond the handful available back then.
You can view video on your MP4 player, laptop computer and on a television. You can hear music on your mobile phone, your MP3 player, a radio, your television and a Hi Fi system. A good deal of the technology have been transformed which have bettered the sound quality and design. Large unwieldy amplifiers and record turntables have thinned down and become sleek, IPod and MP3 docking stations and amplifiers that used to have abundant knobs to twist for treble, bass, equalizer levels just to name a few. If you are close to middle age, or several years beyond, then a lot of the music formats that you were familiar with in your formative years have become outdated. Music Discs were 45s which had a single track on each side and 33s were called Long Playing Records or LPs. Nonetheless, the more you listened to them the more nicked they became, and sound quality ebbed with tracks jumping with hisses and clicks. So more artists released albums on CD instead. There was improved sound quality, they were difficult to damage, although not impossible and lighter and spacesaving. The surge in purchases of CD systems and additionally personal CD players was at its height in the 1990s and 2000s. Now though the IPod and MP3 are the way to listen to music for most, you can transfer your music tracks, talking books etc you wish to listen to and play it on your MP3 and IPod player, mobile phone and laptop computer. Terrific for your own needs but you need a first-rate docking station to connect it to and from there you can plug it to your amplifier, speakers or TV.
The advances in television have been substantial in the last 20 years. Gone has the bulky, heavy box in the corner of your living room and now are replaced by a flat screen television which can be adjusted for optimum viewing by all. They can be sat on a platform or hung on the wall to release some floor space. They are lighter, thinner and have superior image quality. The advances in video recording so that practically everyone has either a DVD Blu-Ray player or even a PVR or Personal Video Recorder to record the programmes broadcast on Freesat, Freeview, terrestrial channels and Sky. Hi Definition programmes look so much better when viewed on a large screen television. A growing area of home redecoration is especially creating a space for home cinema systems. Many people now link-up their television to a sound system and DVD players to take advantage of surround sound. The experience of watching a DVD of the latest film, it is much better when you can almost duplicate the image and sound quality of the cinema in your own home!
