How much energy (heat, mechanical) is being released by participants at an indoor techno dance event?
Some other input data:
- 15,000 participants (fairly large sports hall)
- hardstyle music (which involves jumping and lots of dynamic movements)
- the event lasts for 10 hours (overnight)
I am mostly curious about the energy that could be captured from people jumping and dancing and also from the heat they release, but I am open to other ideas.

All of this energy heats the air or goes into moisture in the air. The air conditioning system has to remove the heat and moisture from the space to keep it from overheating. In cold weather, the body heat offsets the need for artificial space heating.
Capturing the head and using is generally isn’t done because it isn’t hot enough (high enough temperature) to be useful.
The occupants’ bodies don’t release mechanical energy. They release food energy. Although the muscles do work to move limbs, they also move the limbs back, so there is no net work done on the limbs. All such energy ultimately ends up as waste heat.
